Hire someone else to watch tv for you, then meet up with them around a water-cooler and have them tell you what happened. This process can be made even more efficient by assigning short-hand codes to noteworthy happenings:

main character dies = x
dead character returns = i
sexual tension = (xy)
accident = *
courtroom scene = (CR)
corpse with bugs = 28

In this manner the simple formula (CR*){x(i+(xy)28} can be used to relay the entire plot structure of an episode where the main character dies in a court-room accident but comes back to life and experiences a certain amount of sexual tension with a bug covered corpse.
